We have prepared this article for you, where we will remind you of some basic organizational information, as well as address the situation caused by unfavorable weather conditions.
In Eurovea, the entire setup for Saturday’s dm women’s run is already taking shape. Today, we set up a large-capacity tent where, starting tomorrow, we will begin packing race kits for 6,000 runners. There’s a lot to look forward to!
We are closely monitoring the flood situation near the Danube, and as a result, we have adjusted the location for race number pickup. The originally planned location on the square behind the M. R. Štefánik statue has been changed, and the race number pickup will now take place inside Eurovea 2, on the ground floor near the skyscraper (the same location we used for the ČSOB Winter Series). First, you will pick up your race number, and then, approximately 50 meters from the number pickup area, you can collect your race kit in the outdoor large-capacity tent. This tent will also serve as a changing room and storage area for personal belongings on Saturday.
M. R. Štefánik Square, where the partner activities will be set up, is outside the flood risk area, and the water level of the Danube is expected to drop by the end of the week.
The Danube is expected to peak on Tuesday morning, with no significant rise thereafter. Nonetheless, we are closely monitoring the situation and have several contingency plans in place. Meteorologists are predicting the arrival of an Indian summer from mid-week, which is great news for the entire event.
The 4 km race route is already out of the flood zones, but some sections of the 10 km route still have water. Therefore, we have prepared alternative routes for the 10 km race in case the water level does not drop sufficiently. The final decision will be made on Thursday when we have a clearer understanding of the situation.
ORGANIZATIONAL INSTRUCTIONS:
Registration (Race Kit Pickup)
Registration (race number pickup) will take place inside the Eurovea 2 building (near the exit by the skyscraper) at the following times:
- Thursday, September 19, 2024: 12:00 PM – 7:00 PM
- Friday, September 20, 2024: 12:00 PM – 7:00 PM
- Saturday, September 21, 2024: 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM (at least 1 hour before your race start, but we recommend picking up earlier to avoid unnecessary stress)
IMPORTANT: The race kit, filled with gifts from dm drogerie markt, will be available at a different location— in a marked tent near the Eurovea Tower skyscraper, close to the exit of the building on Pribinova Street by the promenade (Note: not the Danube promenade, but on the opposite side of the building).
You can also pick up the race number and kit for a friend. Just have the confirmation of her registration/order forwarded to you by email. It’s enough to show it on your phone.
Start and Starting Corridors
Both races will begin with a wave start to ensure the most comfortable experience for you. Our main focus is your safety, smooth running, and enough space on the course for you and your fellow runners.
Course maps. ATTENTION! CHANGE FOR THE 10 KM RACE.
4 km Race (including Mother-Daughter Run):
- A, 9:30 am: Expected finish time over 30 min
- B, 10:15 am: 28 – 30 min
- C, 11:00 am: 26 – 28 min
- D, 11:45 am: 24 – 26 min
- E, 12:30 pm: Less than 24 min + Nordic walking!!!
You were able to select your start wave during registration. If you didn’t choose a wave, you can select an available one during check-in. You can find out whether you selected a wave and which one by checking your order confirmation. If it’s not listed, you haven’t chosen one. Has your running pace changed since you registered? No worries! You can start in your chosen wave even if your pace is faster or slower. Just enjoy the run!
The entry to the starting corridor is shown on the map below. After the start of Wave A (9:30 am), runners in Wave B should enter the “warm-up corridor” with plenty of time before the 10:15 start. After finishing, runners from Wave A will exit the course at the “exit corridor,” where refreshments are available. Once the last runner from Wave A finishes, Wave B runners will move into the “pink corridor.” Please follow the organizer’s instructions.
The same process applies to Waves C, D, and E — first, enter the “warm-up corridor,” and then move into the start corridor after the previous wave has completed.
Technical Map + Start Corridors – 4 km Race:
IMPORTANT UPDATE!!!! 10 km Race:
- 3:00 PM – Over 60 minutes
- 4:30 PM – Under 60 minutes – Faster pace!
Dear runners, the current flooding situation and high water levels of the Danube have affected the 10 km race course and the afternoon event schedule. We will need to make slight adjustments to the course in the afternoon (the section under the Old Bridge, from both the city and Petržalka sides, is still underwater) to ensure everything runs smoothly and you run on safe, unaffected sections. Although the Danube level is gradually decreasing, we don’t want to leave decisions to the last minute. Please pay close attention to the following information.
The 4 km race course remains unchanged, as does the morning program and the schedule of starts. Please remember that Nordic walking is included in the final start at 12:30 PM.
The 10 km afternoon race course will be completely altered due to the flooding situation. The race organization will proceed as follows:
- We will have two separate starts: 3:00 PM and 4:30 PM (before the second start, we will wait for the last runner from the first start).
Each start will accommodate 800-900 runners, so we need to ensure a roughly proportional distribution between the two starts. Due to the course adjustments and its capacity, starting at the originally planned times (3:00 PM, 3:15 PM) is not feasible. Therefore, we have chosen two starts at 3:00 PM and 4:30 PM.
- The first start at 3:00 PM is recommended for runners with an expected finish time over 60 minutes (pace 6:00 min/km or slower). The time limit for finishing is 1:30 from the start.
- The second start at 4:30 PM is recommended for runners with an expected finish time under 60 minutes (pace faster than 6:00 min/km).
The 10 km race will start in the opposite direction of the 4 km race – the 10 km race starts towards the Apollo Bridge (see the map above). The entrance to the starting corridor will be from the side of the Sheraton Hotel.
Technical Map + Start Corridors – 10 km Race:
When picking up your bib number, you will select your start time for the 10 km race and receive a corresponding colored sticker on your bib. Only runners with the designated color sticker will start at 3:00 PM. All others will start at 4:30 PM. Note that the start times previously printed on some bibs for the 10 km race are no longer valid due to this change.
The afternoon race course will now be 10.3 km long. Due to necessary course adjustments, we could not find a solution to maintain the exact 10 km distance. The 10 km marker (including the timing mat) will be placed on Pribinova Street, 300 meters before the finish line. Results will be based on final finish times over the 10.3 km distance, but the official results will also include your time for the 10 km distance for comparison purposes.
Don’t worry about these changes! The corridors will be clearly marked on site, and members of the organizing team will be available to assist if needed. We look forward to seeing you!
Changing Rooms, Bag Check, Toilets:
The changing rooms and bag check will be open from 8:30 AM on the day of the event. Note: The location has changed compared to previous years. You will find the changing rooms and bag check right behind the “warm-up corridor,” near the place where you picked up your race kits.
Toilets will be available at this location as well. Additional toilets can be found inside Eurovea. Unfortunately, showers will not be available.
Refreshments on the Course and at the Finish Line
On the 10 km course, there will be a refreshment station with water around the halfway point, under the Lanfranconi Bridge. After crossing the finish line, finish-line refreshments will be available at the exit from the corridor.
Event Photos:
The event will be covered by professional photo service Get Pica. After the event, participants who gave consent during registration will receive a link to their personal photo album at the email address provided during registration. 📨
DON’T THROW AWAY YOUR RACE NUMBER! If you are unsure whether you gave consent during registration, keep your race number and visit www.getpica.com. After free registration, enter the code (note: not the race number!) from the QR code on your race number.
Please don’t cover your race number with extra layers of clothing to ensure that your photos can be correctly assigned. If you like your photos, you’ll have the option to purchase them individually or as a bundle.
Dm Zone, Partner Activations, and Shop
On M. R. Štefánika Square, partner stalls will be available for you to enjoy while waiting for your start. The dm zone will be open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, offering not just a space to relax but also:
- dm bistro for refreshment and energy replenishment,
- beauty zone for beautiful nails and hair,
- a peek behind the scenes of dm as an employer,
- creative workshops, where you can take home small keepsakes,
- a prize wheel,
- a discussion corner about menstruation and period poverty,
- a tattoo studio,
- photo spots and a creative message wall,
- engraving of finish times on medals for runners,
- and a corner to entertain young running fans.
Don’t forget to visit our shop, where you can purchase souvenirs not only from this event but also from other running events we organize. It will be located in the check-in area on the ground floor at the end of the Eurovea 2 building.
